Wooley World, oh my...Desiree and Olivia...new dolls!, Best Yet Christmas Party report, Moda Wovens,
Frenz Gallery additions, upcoming shows.
It's a WOOLEY WORLD out there isn't it?
Are you walking on the wool side yet? It seems like yesterday but it was SEVEN years ago the Reets pattern using WoolFelt® and wool was introduced. It was the Angels-A-Stitchin tote and sewing kit pattern. Since, I haven't been able to tear myself away from wool long enough to do too much else.
This spring however, I just had to make some new dolls. Look, here's a little peek.

Making them was a frolick and to my amazement, they were by far my very best selling patterns at the spring shows. Their names are Desiree and Olivia which together means desired peace....that was not intentional believe it or not. I collect tassels, old and new, and keep a little wooden bowl full of them by my sewing machine. When I was pondering the hair for Desiree, one of them jumped from the bowl and plopped itself in whimsical fashion, right on her bare head! Refreshing to find out that so many of you were just dying for new dolls.
I have to tell you. 2003 was our very best year ever. I still cannot figure it out.
Also, last year was our very best sewing club Christmas party ever. Instead of inviting another sewing group, we invited our families and had the party at night. The food was incredible and shame on me for not taking notes and waiting so long to report to you for alas, I have forgotten much by now. I do remember the shrimp bisque tho...and so does everyone else. I'll have to request that recipe from Geri and post it to you come fall ok?
The cookie exchange was again very interesting and a display of much effort. (And again this year, I secretly bribed folks to sneak me an extra dozen.)
The Pirate game gave all of us sore cheeks from laughing so much and I'm going to tell on our friend Don right here and now. He STOLE a wonderful star woman ornament from EIGHT YEAR OLD ELIZABETH! Lordy! (Since I have some stitching for him to do, that's all i'm saying.)
I must say the decorations surpassed last years. A nite party afforded us the charm of little Christmas lights EVERYWHERE. I added a whole new theme to my decorating. Lots of gold and silver and a white feather tree decorated with small antique balls - bowls full of them too. Antique Gold tinsel garlands with lights...all centered on and around our ancient buffet which sits up against a brick wall. It caught a few puzzled glances from the inhabitants here but was my favorite area.
I "hired" my son and his friend to play violin and guitar and was thinking they might play a couple of songs and then go hide in their bedroom. NOT! They came back out repeatedly to perform, gave us background music for dining and for their grand finale, they played We Wish You... to which we all joined arms and sang.
Lordy....it was divine.
I love Moda's woven fabrics. I loved two of their new designs so much that I ordered bolts of them so I can share them with you. Also have some new colors of Prairie Cloth and they are a creamy wonder along side of the woven plaid and stripe. Here is the link but don't forget to come back.
WOVEN COTTON FABRICS
Now have the rusty metal products on view for you and you can order them on the same page. They are also listed on the Accessories Page. Links to these are found on our home page. The new two-sided, puffy hearts and stars, with their primitive shapes, are my new favorites. I painted one of the hearts Burgundy with tiny cream polka dots...LOVE IT! Use Deco Art Patio Paints. They come in the same little bottles as the other acrylics.
Lots of new patterns lately. And I'm just finishing up a new Snowman Dance which will have a bellringer, a mini tree skirt (enlargement instructions included) and a floppy beanbag pillow. My friends Sue and Don just made up the square pillow in Baskets Full in about 6 different colors and there is no way I can decide which one I like best. Perhaps you will see one of them in one of your local quilt shops. Sunflowers is simplicity in stitches. And Noggin Pins - so much fun and so versatile. Slap them on the little purse that is in the pattern or on a stick or just pin them to ya! Watch also for our felted flower pattern fashioned after a gift given to me by my talented friend Barsha. She is so clever and you will love the technique. Below are some links to a few of the newest designs.

Check "Frenz of Reets" Gallery for some great new additions. Here are just a few that you will find there from Lynn Stansfield. Please be sure to continue mailing or emailing me your pics. I love to see and share them.
