RAMBLIN' RAG #21 - DATE: NOVEMBER 2007
from Reets' Rags To Stitches

Apron Stocking Idea, Card Holder Pattern
Washington-Oregon Travels, My Aunt Marion's Quilt, I Ben Good Stocking goes Japanese!, New Wool Floss, Tin Thimble Class ...

KNOCK KNOCK.....WHO'S THERE?.....
THE HOLIDAYS !!

I know...I can't believe it either. Where has the year gone?
I have found holiday relief however...my family finally has accepted a plan I submitted several years ago...drawing names for Christmas gift giving. I am pleased. More time to create a few hand-made stocking stuffers. Perhaps even some new stockings! Or how about this - I'll make my daughters aprons, fill the pockets with goodies and hang them as their stockings.
Now believe it or not that was not just a sneaky way to mention a couple of new patterns...both of which are perfect for the holiday season. One is a card holder, the other...you guessed it..an apron. A No-Hem Reversible Apron in fact. It is an absolute delight to make. Cut out two at a time...one for you, one for a gift. The card holder is charming and absolutely a snap to stitch up. Just click on the pics below to view the order page and a larger picture. Don't forget to hit your "back" button to return....we'll be waiting with more news.

Just a quick travel note. Our last show was in Spokane. Traveled up to just south of Portland and headed east up thru the Columbia Gorge. I have never been. It was so incredible that I'm surprised I made it to the show in time. On the way back traveled across 90 into Seattle, took the ferry across Puget Sound to Bainsbridge Island and then on to my friends' wonderful home in Poulsbo. What a dreamy place to live. After this it was southbound to visit my friend Sandi who has a wonderful sewing shop in Ashland Oregon. It is right down town on Main Street in an old brick building. Look for her shop
FABRIC OF VISION
You will be charmed.

My Aunt Marion is 92 years young. She is the one majorly responsible for my sewing skills. When I was quite young, she offered to buy me fabric to make as many things as I wanted...just as long as I completed the project in hand before beginning another. A few years ago she started a quilt...which of course she completed.....before beginning another one this year. Take a peak at this gorgeous quilt by clicking on the picture below.

Reets' Not-For-Everyone Music and Book Pics.
BOOK - Eat, Pray, Love. What a delightful weave of spirituality and humor. Involves a woman and her travels to Italy, India and Indonesia. Brilliant.
MUSIC - Gypsy Groove...a Putamayo collection. Very peppy. I have purchased numerous copies as I keep thinking of friends who should just not be without this music. Also greatly enjoy French Cafe, another Putamayo.

Below are some pictures of the "I Ben Good" Stockings made by my dear friend Lynn. She made them for her son Soren and his Japanese wife Nao and sent them to Japan last Christmas. Nao owns a sweets shop in Japan....thus the stocking/pastries picture. Click on the two pictures on the LEFT for enlarged views plus a charming story about the stocking's reception. Click the two on the RIGHT and read a blurb about her Hana Homemade.

We have found at last, a great wool floss. Presently, 22 colors are available. We have recently submitted to the company, a collection of additional colors in hopes of expanding the line. I will try to have at least the first 22 colors available on the shopping cart by early 2008. The floss comes wound on a card....love that...and is approximately 23 yards. Price - $2.50.
You read about the TIN THIMBLE in our last newsletter. After our Folsom CA. show we will be having a wool applique class and possibly a rug and or needle punch class. No specific information yet but the date will be Feb. 4, 2008.

Well, I've got to run now...and so do you.

so.....

Have yourself a

MERRY LITTLE HOLIDAY SEASON

Full of Laughter
Full of Joy
Full of All That Is Good.
