RAMBLIN' RAG #9

Date: 12.10. 01

decoratin-with ye ole shelf picture, recipes I promised you (link at bottom of this newsletter), chit chat, not much

Greetings to you. First of all...I hope that you are filled with the excitement of preparing for the holidays. Truly I am and this year the excitement finds its roots in all that is simple and pleasurable in life. Like, listening to each warm, rich gong, of Mother's ole grandfather clock...stretching out each hour of the day just a bit longer. Or finally hanging that loitering, vintage-looking, 3 tiered wire basket on the wall...whalah!...FRUIT BASKET...at last! Oops...add a bow for Christmas!!! Even the old vintage green, 30's-looking shelf has found its place on the wall and has been filled with primitive to shabby chic treasures. Yes, this home has been so neglected from months, make that years, of quilt shows and busy business days. Sprucing up has been nothing but pure pleasure.

Ye ole green shelf

And I am so delighted about this.... I just purchased one of those glass, pedestal cake plates. Only $10 and truly...it can make any cake look scrumptuous....or any pile of muffins, cookies, Oreos. (forget i said Oreos ok?) Anyway, I didn't realize til my daughter and I excitedly pulled it from its box, but you can invert both the pedestal and the dome lid and it turns into a BOWL on a pedestal...for punch or salads. So...go get one ... right now! Now i'm not so happy about this but i must replace the crock pot which appears to be cracked....must have it for the mulled wine

Last year when i gave you a report on our sewing club cookie party i promised to send you the recipe for my favorite cookie from the party - little log-like delicacies. (see recipe link below) These were so yummy but my apologies - they seem not that easy to make and don't really comply with my "simple and pleasurable" endeavor. However, they were the very tastiest morsel on the table and at the end of the recipe is a suggested shortcut. I will also give you a very simple bar cookie recipe which many of you may already have. Some cranberries have been added however for a festive zing.
For last year's cookie party report and lots a party ideas, see NEWSLETTER #5.

And that about wraps it up for this year. I am so glad that you have joined this friendship circle and I hope to hear from many of you again next year. Please feel free to contribute to Reets' Ramblin Rag. Soon we'll have the Gallery, "Reets' Friends Can Do" up - send your pictures! And now, in keeping with that age old adage "Never say good-bye, always say so longie"......

SO LONGIE!!!

AND PLEASE, HAVE A WARM AND WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON...FILLED WITH PEACE, LOVE, HAPPINESS....
and of course.....

COOKIES!
