Primitive Greetings, my name is BittersweetSusan ! I consider myself a Primitive FolkArtist and I love to handstitch dolls and such using many mediums.It all started in the summer of 2002 when I quit working in a local factory I had been at for 10 years and previously been a hairdresser for 20 years. At least some of those artistic talents were being used in the hair industry, but I decided I wanted a whole new life for myself in the golden years and kept searching till now and I love my job for once, along with housekeeping at the local bank! My Dad became critically ill in June 02 and I took a leave of abscence from the factory, when I handstitched my first doll which I saw the pattern for her in a local magazine .I previously was going out to my friends shop off and on to relieve some major factory stress and when she learned I was into making these primitive creations Trina asked me to come join her shop "Calico Cow and Cranberry Barn". It has been a remarkable experience to say the least and I love every minute I get the chance to handsew. In fact that is how I got my name, when I recieved my first paycheck from her, she put a sweet note at the end to me and called me BittersweetSusan.I am proud to say I handstitch everything,no machines on my creations and that's just the way I like it, along with some help from Mom who helps stitch a body or so and it gives her a reason to keep going. Nowadays I am extending into the extreme primitives and love it even more.
